The best OC software for that card is Sapphire's Trixx.

https://www.sapphireselectclub.com/ssc/TriXX/TriXX.aspx

I have ran my card at 1250 Mhz core / 1650 Mhz memory for several months when gaming with VDCC at 1256 (stock on my card) and Board power at 10 with Force Constant Voltage checked. That will keep the card from going in and out of Turbo mode.

Most of the 7870Xt I have seen are solid up till around 1150 Mhz core / 1600 Mhz memory.

As for programs to test with, MSI Kombustor or Furmark are both good. 3DMark is also good.

MSI Kombustor and Afterburner - http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

Furmark - http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/

3DMark - www.3dmark.com

I am not sure how long the card will last but it...

I am not sure how long the card will last but it has been 100% stable at these clocks for 7 months. I have never had a card fail prematurely that wasn't defective. Every card I have had since the 3DFX Voodoo 2 days has been overclocked and I have yet to have one die on me from overclocking. Infact, every card that I have had that survived through the warranty period still to my knowledge works fine. So, you should be able to get 3+ years out of this card if those settings will work for your card.

3 years should be easily done with this card at 1100Mhz. Assuming you don't need to crank to voltages to get there.
