Hi need an explanation I just bought a Phenom 2 x4 965 my old cpu was a Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz Ok same Asus M5A 78L-M LX Plus mobo. My Old Regor got Passmark Cpu bench of -2001 with my new Phenom 2 it is only marginally better at-2440. That Stinks! also my WEI was 6.4 for the processor now with Phenom its only 6.7 again stinks. All other benchmarks I have ran Sandra ect...show the same issue. Yes I have cool n' Quite running but other said that wont matter. Now other benchmarks of the cpu on Passmark put the Phenom x2 965 are at 4000+ I aint nowhere near that and yes I have updated my bios with latest bios and my Windows 7 is 64 bit fresh install.
Here is my setup:
Phenom 2 x4 965
Motherboard:Asus M5A 78L-M LX Plus
Ram: 8 gb ddr3 Ripjaws
Raptor hardrive
Video is integrated....ya I know but were talking processor speed here not overall bench.
So what gives ?
A 965 has got to get better bench for the processor than 2440?

I don't know what causes the difference between your 965 and their 965, but nevertheless, the Phenom II CPUs are quite slow even from an upgrade from the even slower Athlon IIs.

If you are really peeved about this, you should consider an i3 or an FX 63XX or better.

Thanks For the replies I have not ran The Passmark again but here is what happened. I said fresh Windows install actually it was a somewhat clean Macrium Reflect I restored to HD and with all the benchmarks I installed and all the fussing with the bios and OS it crashed the HD so I put the bios back to default and did a clean fresh install from the windows install cd-disk and now I see all 4 cores and the WEI is now at 7.4 for processor AND my memory went up also to 7.4. I will test with passmark again bit I bet it will be way better and now for some reason speccy says the temps are even better at 35c so I'm somewhat happy!
I do believe my next build will be a Intel of some sort I have been an avid AMD for a long time but if this Phenom II x4 965 is supposed to be really fast boy I dont see it, and now to spend money on a new mobo and cpu Intel looks like the way to go.

Passmark gives you a very rough overall picture of how well the CPU performs and it's good that you ran those benchmarks and caught the poor performance early.I suggest you look at several benchmarks to compare processors. Often there are times when one processor is much MUCH better at doing a particular task than another one is.
