Hello all people! I Have a question related to gaming and hardware.
I have a PC with Following Specs:

--------------------------------------…
Processor: Intel Core i3 540 - @3.07GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz <------- (its 1st generation) (I know it has 4 threads only)

Ram: Kingston 4 GB 1333MHz

PSU: Cooler Master Extreme 2 625Watts (Bought New about a week ago).

GPU: Nvidia Sparkle GTX 580 (Bought 2 month used from a guy).

Motherboard: Intel DH55PJ__

Hard Drive: 1TB Western digital (The green one)
--------------------------------------…

I bought the system 2 years ago and then started to collect money for New PSU and GPU. I finally bought them a week ago and I was really happy, thinking I would be able to play BF3 MP on atleast High. But no it didn't. I can't even run it on Low. It lags and I don't know why :(
(Im using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)

Please answer my Following questions:
_________________________________
1)Which Nvidia driver is best for BF3 (im using 320.49)

2)Does my GPU and CPU bottlenecks?

3)If my CPU bottlenecks then I which CPU should I buy? (tell me a 2nd Gen Core i3 Model)

4)Is there any software to Increase the performance of BF3?

5)On full load, this card Reaches 75 degree Celsius, Is that Dangerous?

Please Reply to all my questions In details.
Thank u. :)

Have to know the heatsink before we start talking 4.4 Ghz, going to need some high voltage to do that.

Default would be 133x23 @ 3.067Ghz with the ram ratio at x10
Setting the memory as 1066 so that it gets a ratio of x8 would let you push the BCLK to something like 175 maybe, easily 166 though.

166x23 = 3.8Ghz
166x8 = 1333Mhz on the memory.

175x23 = 4.025Ghz
175x8 = 1400Mhz on the memory, and it may not like it, if you can tweak the voltage you might get it to do this.

1. The newest one most likely, you're welcome to try the pre-320 drivers and the Beta driverd if you haven't already.

2. Yes, but not by so much that you couldn't play BF3 on medium or high settings.

3. Upgrading from 1st gen i3 to 2nd gen i3 won't get you far I'm afraid.

4. None that I know, make sure that you aren't running out of system memory because of too many programs running in the background though.

5. No, 500 series cards run hotter than Jessica Alba. 75 C is your card doing warming up exercises, which leads me to believe that the GPU isn't being utilized to its full potential for some reason. Could be wrong though.

Bf3 Lag is different. Its like 60 60 60 60 20 60 60 60 60 20 60 60 Fps (No better way to explain :p)

And I forgot to tell that it only reaches 75 temp because I am using a software called MSI Afterburner to set fan speed to 85%. If i dont set fan speed then it reaches to max 92!

A single GTX580 under BF3 on ultra at 1920x1080 should run around 70-75C, reference card might hit 80C. My previous build was an i7-950 and a GTX580.

You can overclock the crap out of that i3 540 if you have a decent heatsink and the motherboard will let you fiddle with the BCLK. This would probably help with the performance significantly. Or go and find a used 1156 i5 or i7.

But you shouldn't have much issue running BF3 unless you are running out of memory as mentioned. The 580 will consume system memory up to 2.5GB in addition to the 1.5 onboard if it is available.

Yeah, your right. 4.4GHz is some scary shit if you don't have a good heatsink. Im using a giant Phanteks P14. Im on 4.4GHz. Void 4.4GHz if you notice signs of failure among your PC

i have your cpu at 4.6, with a hyper 212 plus heatsink. temperatures are 40c at idle, around 60 on load (rendering). 1.5 on vcore
its actually pretty fast, ive tried the super pi, winrar and 7zip benchs and from the numbers ive seen on internet is about 10% faster than a 3220

if you are going to upgrade i suggest a core i5, something like 3450 or 3570. I dont recomend upgrading for a i3 3220, you might just get a hyper 212 plus for 30$ and overclock your 540.
