CPU for streaming

Hi. I am looking for a processor where I can stream games (Arma2: DayZ, World of Warcraft at the moment. Maybe other titles in the future) without lagging in game.

My current setup is an i7 2600k @ 4,6ghz cooled with an H60. I am starting to have some frame rate issues (~20-30fps) when there is a lot of stuff happening in game.

I use OBS for streaming, and I stream in 1920x1080 resolution @ 2500 kbs.

so basically I am looking for a CPU where I can stream said games without lagging.

An AMD FX 6300 or FX 8350 should do the job fine. You can build a separate computer with either one, and get a capture card to input the video from your gaming PC.

One of the 8 core amd's might be the ticket. I know their IPC is a bit lower but those extra 4 cores might really come in handy for what you are doing. Id suggest another intel but those 2600's are pretty good and even they newest haswell stuff is only 10% faster

Exactly, though, if the op goes with a dedicated streaming PC with just obs and windows 7/8 on it, the FX 6300 should be more then enough.

I am not too keen on buying an AMD. I've had one before and my experience with it wasn't good.

I've been looking at the i7 3930k, but yeah, it is last gen. Maybe I should wait for another haswell release?

That was just once, everyone has times where they get a bad chip or two. The AMDs are also much cheaper then the i7 six core, and perform about as fast as that in multi-threaded tasks.

A new Hasell i7-4770 is TWO generations newer than the Sandy Bridge i7-2600 you have now, and from what I just read in Maximum PC's benchmarking, it performs about 22% faster than Sandy Bridge (roughly 10% per generation improvement). Not only that, but the 4770 is hyperthreaded so you get 8 logical cores. What's not to like?

Alright, the i7 six core should be fast enough, faster then haswells i7, though Ivy bridge E should be out soon; and the capture cards capture (input) video directly from a console or a PCs GPU to a PCI-E or USB card and a separate computer that runs just OBS / xsplit. If you just run 1 PC, then its not needed.

I would go for FX 8350. It beats intel i7 in streaming, check in youtube Tek Syndicate channel. Logan tested those cpu's for us to see difference. Extra phisical cores do help in streaming and it does't brake a bank. But thats your choice your pocket
