I have recently acquired a Dell Inspiron 545 tower with the following specs:
Intel Dual Core e5400 CPU @ 2.7 gHz
6 gb of ddr2 RAM
300w psu (the one that came with the machine)
Basically, my question is as follows:
The motherboard for the system has a single PCI-e 1.0 x16 slot...I would like to get a graphics card (and a psu...) for this machine that will be both compatible with my current rig, as well as being serviceable for a new system that I will be building within the next 12 or so months.
I have considered the HD 7790 as a possibility along with an Antec power supply (between ~450W and ~550W).
Can someone glean if this gpu will work in this system? Failing that, could you suggest one that would both work in the current system (with upgraded power supply) as well as in a near-future system?
