Heya,

I'm starting a checklist to build my first computer and thought that you guys could help me out.

I will primarily be gaming. I've decided to go for the i5-3550 because I feel i7 is unnecessary for me and I don't really need to OC. Any advice on that would be appreciated.

But the main point which brings me to the motherboard forum - I'm not 100% sure on which motherboard to choose. I've read good things about the Asus P8Z77 V, but I honestly don't know enough about motherboards and compatability to decide, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. My budget is anywhere ranging from £100 - £150. :)

If you're not going to OC, then the Z77 chipset is unnecessary. Get a motherboard like the MSI ZH77A-G43, which is $75 USD. The chipset means that you will never be able to OC, but you also don't have an OCable processor, so it should all be fine. This money saved on the motherboard means that you can get a better GPU to play your games with :)

Thanks Danny, this is very helpful. Looks like a good motherboard for what I need.

Any other suggestions are very welcome. Would I be able to get an even better one for a bit more money?

Thanks in advance. :)

If that is true (which I assume it is, coming from you), then that is an awesome motherboard! Great find :)
