Heya! My brand new 780Gtx run rlly smooth, in stock speeds.

But as soon as i start overclocking it crashes. i refer to the numbers poeple use, nothing makes a stable overclock. even when i ONLY add a little Mhz...

What coud be the problem of this? id love to get more out of this card then it already has

Results can vary per chip for OCing... but the way you describe your inability to OC sounds unusual.

Which 780 do you have? What do you have for a case and case cooling? What temperatures do you reach on full load on stock speeds? OC'd?

How much of an overclock are you attempting when it crashes? Have you tweaked incrementally at all?

Maybe your Power Supply is too weak ?

In stock clocks its fine, but when you overclock you also increase the voltage.

And honestly you wont get much by overclocking (1-5 frames if you overclock the GPU).

gonna hope to cover it all :p

- When in stock speed he runs at 967Mhz (1020boost) and hovers around the 65c°
- I got a HAF coolermaster case with 5 Vents installed and a huge heatsink for my cpu.
- 750 watt suply (previous card was like 195watts with big OC, this card is 250watt)
- I use Afterburner and Evga pres. (in afterburner i cant control voltage?)
- And i only overklocked i tiny bit.
*First i went for +190core and +250mem, +12volt and 106% power.
*second i tried +190 core and +250mem
* then i went for +70core and +250 mem, +12volt and 106%
* then i went for +70core and +250 mem
* then i went for +70core and +250 mem and 106%

My card is the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC w/ ACX Cooler

http://

--EDIT--

*I use Bioshok infinite (i use the same mission) to check if the frames and stability improved.

That didnt help sir :(

i did +1 voltage (cant type in 1.1) and +40 core clock. insta crash of my games and Msi afterburner. (my videocard crashes ... my screens doesnt get a signal for 2 second then goes back on and the games have stopped working)

I have just overclocked my card +13voltage, 106%power limit, +170 memory clock.

It insta crashed in Bioshok again, but it didnt crash at all in battlefield 3 ?!

I think this means that The game Bioshock is the problem here?!

>.<

One serious limiter to overclocking air cooled cards is what's under the hood, I have a policy now that I never overclock my air cooled cards until I've pulled the heat sink and inspected what the installer did.

Is the thermal compound on the GPU heat spreader or die, (if it's a no IHS version), just enough to do the job or does it look like it was applied with a caulking gun, too much applied thermal compound is bad.

Are the thermal pads making good contact with all the memory chips and voltage regulators?

There's only one way to know what's under the hood, and you really need to know before you seriously overclock your graphics card.

You would not believe what I've seen under the hood of some of my own GPUs.

Just because all the hardware is quality doesn't mean the production line employee that assembles it all even cares, some do, and some could care less!

The evidence is under the hood!

u apriciate Your input sir. But i used to have gtx680 lightning... Oc was THE best with it. And was also aircooled. I dont see why this card woud trouble with the Same Cooling (even better) tho i cant open my card.

Well Good Luck Then! :)

well i use Msi Afterburner and there i cant type in a Comme (,) or point (.) only numbers.. so i can only put in +1 or +2 but not +1.1?
And why downklock it? :)
The driver version is the 320.49. (not beta)

Hmm i have been tweaking with Msi afterburner and then testing it with the evga oc test. (came with the card)

lets say withouth an overclock i got 2457 score.
With oc i got 2663 (improved 4fps)

If i went any higher he crashes so the oc i got now seems to be working in my games (bioshok still crashes)

Id call the crashes due to the game and not to the card. so lets close the forum imo?

Seems like the Crashes are not due to the Game bioshock... it also crashes in all other games. only not that soon....

Hmmm coud this be due to the card not working properly? or perhaps the power supply not enough? dono how to check that tho.

I think that I wrote wrong.

Use EVGA Precision for set the voltage of your GPU at 1.1V, you need to check 1st at what voltage it's. I think that you will have to add +0.1 or less with that software.

You also can try installing another GPU in the rig, a borrow GPU from a friend or installing and testing the GPU in a friend's rig, with that we can know if the PSU is the problem or not.

i sitll didnt manage to fix it, i think it might be like 4ryan6 said. perhaps the installer didnt do his best on my card orso. i just gave up on overklocking this card as poeple tell its not that big of a gain anyways. im just waiting for the 980Msi lightning edition
