Hi, this isnt a major, more of an inquisitive thing.
I have a query about Last light, I just last night had the issue where Last Light Crawls to a halt on anything complex, frame rate dips down to 18 fps, even though Physx is set to auto\gpu, and at the same time according to EVGA precision, the gpu usage drops like a stone.
After some muddling around with google, I established the Nvidia physx drivers were screwing with it, and switching it to CPU physx , even though CPU isnt selected as the preferred physx method ( hardly for a GTX780ACX)
I found that reinstalling the driver and or rolling back from 320.49 and or completely freshly installing to 318 did not fix the issue, and eventually shifted the three physx loading files out of LL folder, which rectifed the issue and let LL Utilize the GPU again and the FPS once again skyrockets as it should and the GPU usage goes right up.
Some really screwed up business, took me ages to figure that out, was driving me nuts wondering if something was wrong with my computer. I have seen alot of this about on the net , people saying SLI Titans doing the same thing, and GTX6 series cards suffering same issues.
Anyway, what I noticed before and after was this,
I am running the game in 2540x1440 resolution in Very high detail, physx on, AF 16x but have turned off SSAA as it criples my card.
with
Core i7 3770K with Corsair H100i
16GB Corsair Vengeance
EVGA GTX780ACX 3GB superclocked
1200W Silverstone PSU
Before this issue, I noticed that 1440p, it used 1156-1225 MB Of vram
Now it appears to be using 1000-1084MB? In the same scene in the same spot of the game,
I dont get it, does the coding vary the gpu memory load or is EVGA precision just innaccurate?
I have read at LL is very memory efficient on the GPU and even at bigger resolutions doesnt even pass 1300-1400MB.
Just more bamboozled than anything, or is it the difference between say 320.49 or 320.18 utilizing different memory amounts.
Oh another note too, I had changed my PSU to limit coil whine on my gpu as it was bad on my cruddly power supply, I noticed with 320.49 drivers my card would moan just sitting at the desktop intermittently, gone back to 320.18 the issue is gone, whats up with that?
