Computer won't detect Ethernet cable during the day?

My computer was working just fine connecting to the Internet and then one day I turned it on and it had no connection at all. The diagnosis told me my Ethernet cable was either not plugged in or busted, but neither was the case because I had the same issue with 2 other cables. After about an hour of reading forums and fussing with it I gave up and went to work. When I got back that night it worked. I had no idea why but I wasn't going to argue, but the next day the problem returned. I quickly gave up trying to fix it but sure enough, that night around 11 I got on and it was working just fine. This pattern has repeated 5 days running now and I am thoroughly baffled. No amount of resets and unpluggings, driver installations and CMOS resets can fix it during the day, but it works flawlessly at night... ???????????

Solution
hehe either that or your ethernet jack on your computer has some issues, too much or too little voltage going into it. Since plugging it into your laptop chances everything the culprit is your computer's hardware. Get a dedicated Lan Card (ethernet card) if it doesn't work just get a refund, just try it and see if that works.

Ô-o thats the most mind-baffeling case of what i call, Skynet syndrome (where the component has a mind of his own) , I've ever withnessed. Frankly i cant make heads or tails of this problem, and generally it only goes on for about 1-2 hours not 5 whole days. Maybe checking your router or modem, resetting it or calling your ISP?

I've reset the modem twice and the Internet works when I pull the cable out of the computer and plug it into a laptop so I don't think the ISP has anything to do with it. I think you may be right, it just has a mind of its own.

Luckily the computer is a temporary solution while I wait for asus to send back the motherboard on my other computer. I suspect the culprit might be a pirated operating system as the computer actually belongs to a friend of mine.

In your router their is configurations to only allow internet activity during certain times of the day. I would log in to your router's web interface and check those settings.
