Hi Guys,

I'm new to the site, and only getting back into the desktop game after years with prebuilt laptops.

My employer is switching to a VMware intensive infrastructure. As such I am hoping to build myself a CHEAP VM lab to sandbox around with.

I'm looking at a system with the following specs:

CPU: i7 3770k
Ram: 16 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
HD: 7200rpm 2TB
GPU: GTX 650 (prob not req or important, but maybe fund to play around with CUDA processing)
Monitors: 2x low market brand 24"

I have cash to spend, but I'm not looking to put a whole chunk of money into this project. If you have any comments on if it's a decent setup, or ideas to swap out or upgrade with I'd appreciate any comments.

The general intent is to have a couple instances of trial VMware and trial Svr 2008R2 running, an Exchange 2010 setup (with no real use mind you).

I'm looking to spend around 1k on the system as a whole.

Any advice would be appreciated!
