Won't fully boot, or boot at all?

I've had a computer sitting around my house for maybe 3 years now, I had stopped using it because the power supply went and I couldn't afford to change it. That being said, I just recently bought a new one and replaced it. Now the weird part is, if I flick the main power switch on the back to "on" the PSU and CPU fans both start running. The disc drive opens and closes, but if I hit or even hold in the power button on the front, it will not shut off unless I hit the main power on the back. The moniter continues to say "no signal, entering power saver mode", no matter what I try. I know the moniter is good because I've tried it on 2 other towers. I've unseated everything inside and reseated it. Removed the CMOS battery for 2 minutes and replaced it. Double and triple checked all the connections. Pulled the GFX card, still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

When the power supply died it could have done any number of things to the machine. I'd start with taking the memory out of the machine and reseating it. If there are more than 1 memory stick then swap their positions around. The machine should not turn on just by flicking the power supply switch... so this is a bad sign. You could try chasing back the computer on/off switch to and unplug that from the motherboard and see if that helps, there's a very slim chance the power button or reset button are stuck. Also make sure the reset CMOS jumper is in the correct setting. Personally these are the kind of issues I've wasted days on... often I have to force myself to give up and move on.

Thanks for the reply. I tried all of your solutions but sadly none did the trick, tho I did notice when I pull the CMOS battery, let it sit for 2 minutes, then replace it, when I hit the PSU switch, it doesn't tart up by it's self, I have to press the button on the front of the tower, but after that it still won't shut down, even by holding the button. And after the first initial time, it starts up by its self. :/
