Hi, all! I have finally completed my long awaited build about a week ago yesterday, i have done every burn in under the sun and every GPU/memtest i can think of, it games very nicely, however, whenever i use coretemp it tells me that the CPU is idling at about 10C-15C, whereas hwmonitor reads that the cpu idles at about 31C-32C, the package temps on hwmonitor correlate to the temps given by coretemp... Which of these programs is the more reliable?

Solution
This is interesting, as I trust both greatly and have both installed on my setup; however, I have been having the same problem lately. HWMonitor reads 15-20 degrees higher than CoreTemp... Personally, I would trust CoreTemp more. However, I think that it is always best to err on the side of being too careful as opposed to not careful enough, so I would assume the higher temperature and make sure that everything is alright with my system. However, since neither temperature is bad, it doesn't exactly matter.
One thing to add is that I have seen people with the 8350 idle at 45; unless you have a beast of a cooler (like an H220, H100i, etc.) I highly doubt that you will be getting below-ambient temps on your CPU. For that reason, I...

For that reason, I would assume that the 30 degree temp is the correct one, and make sure that it doesn't go up extremely high on either. :)
