Is this too much for my PSU?

Hi,

I've been running this build fine so far but just to be safe I want the community's opinion on this.

I have an OCZ Fatal1ty 550W PSU and right now, I have a 3570k, 6 7200 RPM HDDs, and a 560 ti classified ultra edition (specs said it required a 550w minimum PSU) all hooked up.

Is this safe? Or should I think about getting a stronger PSU?

You might want to look into getting a new psu, mainly because thats not the best brand for psus. You can use this to find how much you need. http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
Something from corsair or seasonic would be a better bet.

I'd say it's fine.

The 3570k draws about 80w, the hard drives about 10-15w each and the 560Ti about 170. Altogether, that's a bit more than 300w. Even if you overclock, you should be fine.

That is not the best quality PSU but your system likely drams no more then 350w total under FULL load.

Its fine. ocz psu aren't that bad. I would just use it until you upgrade you graphics card to something more power hungry

thanks for the replies and yes i plan on upgrading my graphics card soon to something like a 7870 or 670 would this power supply still be sufficient?

At that point you would be borderline needing a new psu. You can use that calculator to be sure.

A 670 or 7870 will run on 550w no problem at all.
