Okay so I started ordering parts for a new build, and I'm planning to go with a haswell 4670k combined with a Cooler Master 212 heatsink/fan.

The last time all I did was squeeze out a pea size drop from the tube of paste directly onto the middle of my cpu, but I see newegg videos in which the guy spreads it on the cpu with his finger in a plastic bag. Wouldn't this cause bubbles to form?

It looks haphazard, so my question is whats the best way to go about applying it?

Solution
i prefer the glob method. you put a bit in the middle, set the cpu down twist it a few times, gently, careful not to tip the heatsink, then secure it tight. if you see the thermal paste run down the side you put too much on. frankly, the first few times you should practice till you're comfortable you're getting complete coverage.
