Hi,

I have two HD6970 cards in crossfire. They are a different brand.

1 sapphire with stock amd cooler(which sucks);
1 asus direct CUII with a good cooler

The asus card is fit for overclocking; however the sapphire is not. If I do so its like having a jet engine running in my room because of the fan.
I game at 1080p and i like to have my settings as high as possible. And if I overlook the few games that don't support crossfire, or scale very bad; I am pretty happy with this setup. Only I am getting the feeling that I could use just that extra bit of performance.

I am wondering if an upgrade to the gtx780 is worth the performance boost...
It is a pretty expensive card (650 EUR).

The second option would be to buy a aftermarket cooler (+-80 EUR) for the sapphire card and overclock my cards (http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/detail/index/sArticle/554/sCa...). Then I would spend the rest of the money to get myself a new ssd, keyboard and harddrive.

So, what do you think?

You should be ok for the next couple of years with those two 6970s without having to even consider overclocking them. Out of the two options I'd get a better cooler for the sapphire one.

How much of a performance boost do you actually get with a 780 over a hd6990?
