I have an old pre built HP desktop from like 2009 and I'm now currently working on my first build and I was just wondering if I could save 20$ and use the old optical drive from the HP. the interface is SATA so it would be compatible with my motherboard, the read and write speeds aren't that great but ill really only be using CDs to install my OS and drivers.. Everything's downloadable now a days.
I know it's only 20$ for a new optical drive but hey, times are tough and this build is already running me at about 650$. But if worse comes to worse ill invest in a new drive.
