I just recently built a new PC and for some reason whenever I overclock my cpu my computer wont boot. It tries to boot for about 3 seconds then shuts off then automatically tries to boot again. It wont stop doing that until I unplug it from power. I then have to remove my CMOS battery before it will boot. The overclock I was going for is just 4.6g. I would up the bus speed to 125, the multiplier to 38, and the Core voltage to 1.4v. My system specs are :
I7 3820 @3.6g
Gigabyte X79 up 4 MOBO
2 GTX 780 in SLI
16gb DDR3 1600mhz ram
1050W seasonic PSU
H100i watercooler
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you increase the base clock you are effectively also changing the memory clock (Base X memory multiplier=memory clock) so make sure you are still running within spec. If you never changed any timings then those should be ok. Go back to a configuration you know is stable, and then go from there. At what speeds and settings is your system stable at?

Hey,

Some chips will get to 4.6ghz others require more voltage and some won't. Start by toning down your clocks and lowering your voltage, and then test for stability. Then slowly increase your clocks back up (do this in SMALL increments, and test for stability in between). Are you stable at lower clocks such as 4.4ghz or 4ghz? Also make sure you are running the latest BIOS. Along with that what speed is your RAM running at, make sure your timings are right.

Here is a guide & be careful with the voltage:

Hope this helps!
