In just about a week, my family will be ordering new internet. However, we must choose out a modem/router (which I have no clue what the difference is of the two) out. All of the choices are on this site.

I need one with wireless and well as a wired connection. Preferably two connection, but one is fine as well.

I'm thinking this one, but I'm not sure if it's the best choice possible.

So please, I'd like all the help you guys can offer.

(I'm not sure if this is in the right category, but it's worth the shot.)

Modem - gets the signal from the ISP via coax cable. It converts the signal into something the router can use. The modem gets one external IP address from Comcast, and serves up one IP address internally

The router then routes the signal, via WiFi or ethernet, to your devices. The router can serve up many internal IP addresses. 192.168.1.xxx. The router also serves a firewall function to keep baddies out.

Some of them are modem and router in the same box. Some are just the modem 1/2.

The thing you chose is just the modem.

This one will do what you need, although I have no experience with Zoom Telephonics products.
ZoomTelephonics Model 5352 DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless-N Cable Modem Router

Or, you could just get one of the modems (like the one you chose), and a router from NewEgg.

From what they offer, if you want an all in one modem and wifi router, this one Arris Touchstone Telephony Wireless Gateway Modem TG862G, as long as they cost is the same to you.

If not, get the Motorola cable modem you linked and get your own router. I like Netgear RangeMax models, this one is a good buy with good features http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Comcast techincal assistance can be crazy now you have to buy your own modem? WTF?
If you buy it from them will they set it up? if it were me I'd bridge the modem and buy my own router so you can make changes to the router as per what you need...The modem/router combos-I've never been a fan of them.
