if you don't have any console exclusive to play then there is no need to ditch your pc for a console

definitely console. The games made for the next consoles will be optimized for them, and allow them to perform much better on less, compared to them running on a PC. and that PC isn't exactly a gaming machine...

PS4 or XBone...ur choice. The PS4's specs are a little better, but it's still more of a hardcore single player gamer's console, compared to the multiplayer's choice, xbox (which typically gets more multiplayer and fun multiplayer games)

Yeah..
Q6600 is still great processor..beat almost all i3 series in terms of multithreading..
and games right now can utilize 4 cores or more to increase frame rate..

PS4 still more powerfull than your current pc configuration..and somehow, i believe, even xbox one beat your system..

xbox using 7850 and PS4 use 7870 as their graphic card.
And remember, consoles hardwares is very optimize to handle 3D graphics, that's means you need to doubling their spesification to have same experience from the your PC..

Well, highend combo like i5 3570k and pretty fast GPU like 7970 or 770 will make you survive..:)

but somehow, i believe HD7950/GTX760 will do this job..
