Hello Everyone! I have some questions related to the performance of the CPU:
"Core i3 540 @3.06GHz".
Please Answer all these Questions in detail :)

1) Is this processor good for gaming? (Games like Far Cry 3, BF3, Tombraider 2013)??

2)Will this CPU and a Sparkle GTX 580 1.5gb bottleneck?

3)If it does bottleneck then will a 2nd Gen Core i3 work with the above mentioned GPU?
(I mean Not even a little bottleneck).

Some more questions:

I have a PC with Following Specs:
--------------------------------------…
Processor: Intel Core i3 540 - @3.07GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz <------- (its 1st generation) (I know it has 4 threads only)

Ram: Kingston 4 GB 1333MHz

PSU: Cooler Master Extreme 2 625Watts (Bought New about a week ago).

GPU: Nvidia Sparkle GTX 580 (Bought 2 month used from a guy).

Motherboard: Intel DH55PJ__

Hard Drive: 1TB Western digital (The green one)

(I play all games on 1920x1080 res)

1)Will the processor bottleneck?

2)When ever I run BF3, It runs on 30-40 fps (Even on Low) Why is that happening?

(Shouldn't this card run it at alteast Normal or High??)

(Even If the processor bottlenecks, Why does it still makes bf3 lag even on Low?? Including SP)

Last Q: Which processor will not bottleneck with This GPU even a bit??

Thank u in advance!

I really need help, I collected money for 2 years to buy a good GPU, and now this happened to me :(

Solution
The cpu load in a given game is the same regardless of resolution and detail settings (those affect the gpu load), so getting poor framerate even at low settings indicates the cpu is the bottleneck. I don't think a 2nd-gen i3 would be much better. You'd be better off with a 3rd or 4th-gen i5 cpu.

Ok, So I was screwing around with stuff trying to find the problem with BF3... I did the following:
1)Ran some programs in background e.g. (MSI Afterburner, GPUz, Google chrome)
2)I Ran BF3 64 player server on metro map with Explosions On, and set graphics settings to Auto (Auto set most options to High)
3)I Played for 5 mins in 30-40 fps, then minimised the game and opened Resource monitor and went to ram. There I saw "Free Ram" was only 9 to 25 mb only.

I think ram is the problem!
What do you guys think? Waithin for replies! :)

I just noticed you only have 4GB. I would indeed grab another 4GB stick

I'd buy the memory. You should be able to get to 4Ghz wit what you have now
