Will my Intel i5 burn up playing BF3?

i5 is a fine cpu for playing BF3 i use it all the time for games and has no problems running it...I think that guy is BSing you...

an i5 and the i7 are pretty much the same when it comes to games, the i7 has small performance boost when it comes to gaming. the only time the i7 will have a considerable boost over i5 is when you video rendering or doing 3d work (hyperthreading).

Tell that guy that he's bad at computers and that he should feel bad. Any modern processor should handle that game without heating up at stock speeds.
