Is my ~$500 budget gaming computer good?

Use PCpartpicker mate! It scans many, many online stores, and finds the best deals :) (an example is the BitFenix prod case. Newegg: $100- somewhere else I can't recall: $60)
Get the FX-8320 for $10 cheaper.
For the RAM, grab Axevir Budget series 8GB instead for $40 cheaper (you'll see why later). It's only one stick, but I'll be doing good by changing your GPU to a 7850 2GB for $160 instead :) The GPU is way more important in games then RAM. Just change the RAM later for cheaper, or grab another 8GB stick to stop the slight latency (and OC the ram for higher speeds)
For the case, there is a much better case from Corsair (200R) for the same price :)
I forget which store it is (check PCpartpicker for this), but get yourself a 1TB HDD from Seagate or West Digital for the same price.
You won't need the After Market cooler unless you'd like to OC (AMDs stock coolers are plenty good enough)
I can't really speak for anti static straps, but if you don't trust yourself to remember to destatic yourself; grab them :)

It's a good first attempt though. My first attempt on the same budget ended up MUCH worse xD Thankfully I didn't go with it :)
I'll put the build for you on pcpartpicker quickly :)

Here you go :) I'm a little over budget, but if you want to stay right on it, just change the GPU to a 1GB model.

Solution

CPU and motherboard aren't compatible, and the memory is crappy.

Thank you captain obvious, for stating what I already said about the memory in, oh so kind words.
Back to seriousness, read the whole post before acting all wise, because I clearly stated that "Just change the RAM later for cheaper, or grab another 8GB stick to stop the slight latency (and OC the ram for higher speeds)".
Although, I don't get how the CPU and the mobo aren't compatible. After all, it is a mobo designed for the FX line up, it can support the TDP the 8320 utilises, and it is an AM3+.
