I bought my current GPU, a 128-bit GT 430 700Mhz 1GB DDR3, 1 year ago on eBay for $40. It has served me well, but now since I am getting into After Effects more, I am thinking about upgrading. My system is well-suited for video editing (i7 2600, 16GB RAM, 1TB SATA III HDD, and a 750W Bronze-Certified PSU. (if you think perhaps a SSD would serve me better than a new GPU, please let me know). My price range is about $150, but I will buy on eBay so hopefully I can save a few bucks.

My main two considerations right now is the GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB and the HD 7770 1GB. The 560 is $125 and the 7770 is $90. Also, I am looking at the GT 650 Ti 1GB (however, it costs the same as the 560 and apparently the 560 is quite a bit faster).

What would you guys recommend? Also, maybe I should get a SSD instead of a new GPU?

Get the GTX 650 Ti Boost at that price point. Shoot for the 2GB model, but the 1GB is a good option if you're on a tight budget.

Here's a good roundup review of GTX 650 Ti Boost cards:

But why the 650? The 560 Ti performs better in almost every benchmark I have seen

Well it is only an %8 increase in performance. However, it is in my price range, and seems to be the best bang for the buck then.

THanks!

Thanks for the help!

Actually, since that chart uses a considerably higher performing card as the 100% baseline, that compresses and underemphasizes the relative performance between cards lower down the scale. Checking an actual GTX 650 Ti Boost review shows a higher relative difference in performance.

It's all academic, but provided just for accuracy and perspective. Also hoping to get you more excited about your new card purchase. You're looking at almost twice the performance over your GT 430. Cheers!

Thanks again! I'm not %100 yet I am gonna go with the 650, but you definitely helped out a lot! This is a large purchase for me, and I want to make sure to get the right card (but at least I narrowed at down to two). Right now I am definitely leaning towards the 650, it's just the fact that I can get the 560 Ti $60 cheaper than a 650 Ti Boost, it really makes me second-doubt myself.

The GTX 560 Ti is a great overclocker and will easily get up into that GTX 570 territory when overclocked. If you want to save money, that's a very good option. You can't go wrong either way.
