Buying a used PS3 has the risk involved with buying anything used. Also the games haven't really reduced as all games now it seems start around $60USD and only seem to go down about $20. (THE CRUMMY ONES GO DOWN TO $20). The PS4 games will be the same prices it seems and they will be much better graphically as they won't be standard console 720p but will be pushed up to 1080 (We'll see... but that's what they are saying). All in all if you are buying a NEW system buy what ever is newest. because 10yrs down the road you can still play it and still buy used games. DO NOT buy new xbox as you must buy NEW titles and cannot trade or sell them after use. All in all my VOTE is for PS4 for now and in a year or so just pick up a cheap PS3 as the price will landslide after a year of PS4.

I think Xbox is now allowing unrestricted used games... Though, I'd still buy the PS4.

The only reason to buy a PS3 now, would be because of it's large library of games. Still, future proof and all, PS4.

*Ps3 still rocks for streaming netflix, and videos off your PC.

Yeah but once the PS4 has had its debut the ps3 will start lowering in price to where you could buy it so easily it wouldn't be an issue. Get the PS4 and if you still want a PS3 later it won't cost much. (Also when new systems come out you can find good deals online from someone else "Upgrading". When 3 came out I bought 2 with controllers and a huge library for dirt cheap)

Figured I'd mention the fact that I'm waiting on buying a PS4. Instead of buying one of the new consoles, I'm building a gaming rig.

I always wait until a new systems game library fills out. Also, it's nice to get the revised versions of the system. Launch systems tend to be power hungry, and their lifespans reflect this. I didn't get a PS3 until the slim came out.

Still, if I didn't already have a system, or was 2 generations back, I'd go with the new one. You'll be kicking yourself in the butt knowing that for another 100 or so you could of got a PS4.

Not always so though... you wait and you get systems with options removed or first gen capability's locked... But you are right on some things like psone and ps2 slim had Ethernet. the larger versions needed an extra attachment. I personally always beat myself up for not getting the backwards compatible systems. but that is my personal preference.

Price goes up as tech goes up... it's the way of the world. Price on PS4 should be the same as PS3. And the PSN will have DL Digital Games. But a rumor is that PSN will have a membership fee in the future for exclusive content and such but will still have 90% of services free still. Free netflix, internet, multiplayer, etc.

The lost backwards capability sucks on the PS3 slim. Though I traded in all of my old ps2 games when it died, years before I got my PS3.

The PS4 will not play PS3 games.

Look on Amazon, PS3 games are cheaper on disk, most of the time.

You'll see a game available for download at 59.99, with the disk version 20 - 30.

Sadly, they came up with bs a while back to justify charging more for downloadable games... Cough, Cough, monopoly.

You can get deals and sales easier on digital though... what was 59.99 is 19.99 for a week before going back to $59.99.
