For some reason, a random notepad file keeps appearing within my user folder (where Downloads, Contacts, My Pictures, etc. are located) called "agent." It's blank, but if you delete it, it simply reappears eventually. It's full name in the properties is agent.log. I'm wondering why this is happening and how to make it so that this doesn't happen. Thanks!

Use Control Shift and Escape together to bring up Task Manager and drag it to a corner of the screen that allows you to see the file entry in Windows Explorer. Keeping one eye on the list of Processes in Task Manager, delete the file and see what happens when it reconstitutes itself. If you double click on the column heading of Processes, it will bring the highest resource user to the top of the list and whatever runs to make a new copy of that file wll appear there, perhaps only briefly.

This sounds a rather silly suggestion I know but it's my best shot. :D

Did you find out what is creating it? I am having the same issue. thanks!

Did my original suggestion give any clues to tthe process in charge of reconstituting the file? Try renaming the file. In any event, run your anti-virus programme and if it reappears, download a stronger one - MalwareBytes is a good one and the free trial version is available at http://www.malwarebytes.org.

I tried using process monitor and monitoring the user folder. Unfortunately it hasn't reappeared for me to see which program is creating it. smh..
