I just bought an Apple Airport Extreme to try and speed up my wireless internet and i am having some issues. While setting it up it does nothing but blink Amber (which means it cant connect to the internet) Before i had just a Modem for Phone/internet and a router for wireless, both suppplied by ISP. Im trying to get rid of the router as it overheats alot, which is why i bought the Airport extreme. Do i need the router to use the Airport or can it connect directly to the modem? Really confused on this whole thing, any help would be appreciated !

Unless you've determined that your modem is just the bees knees I believe it will severely bottleneck your Airport Extreme. Also, how old is your modem? If it doesn't use the 802.11 specs...
