You need to format disk drive before you use it

Okay so I used my usb drive [F] to put pictures on it to put it on my Playstation 3. Later I tried to add more pictures to the usb then it said "i needed to format the usb" it will erase all my stuff on it. what should I do? I don't want to format the disk so

It`s full then I take it, and why it is wanting to format the drive for free space.
So delete the photos that are currently on it, if they still reside on the pc, or play station 3. How confusing is that ?

After all most usb drives are used to transfer a copy of something to another device are they not.
I mean you do have backups of all the pictures on another device.
So you wont loose them will you if you just copied the pictures will you.

Its actually NOT full and I've actually never had this happen before. It's a 4GB and there is only a few files.
