I just opgraded my Gpu From Gigabyte Radeon 7870 oc to Gigabyte radeon 7970 GHZ edition. But i dont see any big difference in far cry 3. Before i could play that game with 4x anti-aliasing with about 25-35 fps. Now i bought the card who was much more expensive and i run far cry 3 with all settings max and 8x anti-aliasing. But i only get 28-45 fps. I saw some rewiew on you tube a guy had the same card and got 70-80 fps with recording. Mayby there are some settings to change in ccc?
Sorry for bad eng

My CPU is Core I7 2700-k

Update. No it works perfect with 4x i didnt on the old gpu. My cpu only using 20% when playing this game with 8x

x8 is double the gpu power required over x4. you'll really notice a slowdown with it.

Is the FPS at that level constantly or does it just drop for a few seconds? Im asking because that card should be able to give you 60 or so FPS on full settings for a large part of the game then maybe dropping with a large fire fight or something like that. Do you have the latest drivers and all that good stuff? Also keep in mind if you where playing on lower settings then swap the card and change to max settings you may only see a minimal increase but you are getting an FPS increase WITH the settings increase. I still think you should be able to get 60FPS for the most part. Maybe vsync is dropping your frame rate to half?

vsync is off. And yes i have the lastest amd beta driver from amd´s website. And the fps is fine about 50 when im on the beach etc. But when im in jungle i get even down to 25 fps. That guy on you tube had stable (55-80) in jungle.
But mayby it is some settings need to be changed in ccc. I remember in fc2 i got lag with 7870 and i changed something in anti-aliasing settings and all worked fine.

Look by you self he saying he have a gigabyte 7970 ghz edition

Guys please help me i really want this fixed. That guy on you tube has the same card and he get up to 80 fps. Have tried anti-aliasing settings in amd, not worked :(

you aren't giving anywhere near enough info to help you on this.

list your system in detail. (case, cooling setup, ram, cpu, mb, monitor, psu)
give us the gpu model... gigabyte makes a couple of GE versions of the 7970, we need to know which one you've got
let us know what type of temps (cpu/mb/gpu) you're getting
what type of cpu load and gpu load
what type of ram load you're getting
your monitor size and resolution

because we presented an answer to the question which you promptly ignored. which was your cpu might be bottlenecking you, not your gpu. Crysis3 is a computer melter, with insane requirements across the board to play at it's highest settings. We're trying to ID the problem but you're giving us nothing to work with.

CPU: Intel Core I7 -2700k (When run fc3 full settings cpu only using 20%)
RAM: 12 GB Corsair vengeance
GPU: Gigabyte 7970TO 3 GD (Temperature is on fc3 full settings about 60C)
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster SA950D 3D Full HD monitor (Response time set to fastest) Resolution: 1920x1080
Blu-ray reader: Samsung
SSD: Samsung 500 GB
Harddisk: Samsung 2 TB
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service pack 1

I dont think its cpu when its only using 20%. One of my friends run this game on a only HD resolution he have a Club 7870. He have a core I5 cpu with only 3.2 GHZ 4 cores and it run fine. Just a bit lag, but almost nothing.

I would make sure the CCC settings are all on "use application settings" if your adjusting things in there sometimes they can conflict with what the game is trying to fo. Also I know there is SSAO HBAO AND HDAO (something like that) I have been told that those settings are AMD Nvidia specific so you could try using SSAO first and see what happens. Is the card behaving like this is any other games?

yes... but the 7970GE should get better then 20fps at 1080p. he has something going wrong right now. He should be getting between 30-60fps on ultra with a i7-2600k and 7970GE.

OP i'd start by uninstalling your drivers, deleting anything to do with AMD graphics drivers from your system and try a fresh install. Don't use a beta driver, use the latest drivers.

what i'm supposed to do?
I already did that, uinstalled everything. I tried the last normal drivers but it was not better. Amd also says that you get better performace in fc3 if you install the beta driver. I even removed the driver from windows hardware config or something its called. But it works fine in serious sam 3 if you know that game. I run all settings on max there are an anti-aliasing 8x and something called super anti-aliasing 8x also. And shadow anti-aliasing 4x (4x is max for this option no 8x in this option). Works perfect, up to 65-85 fps i get there. And also very good graphics.

@Heironious
I also have a ghz edition so i should run better than him on that video you posted.

Well if you think its the card I would exchange it if possible or RMA it. If you switched drivers and have all the settings in CCC as using application settings you should be getting the correct performance. Also keep in mind that the drivers may just have a issue with that game only it does happen from time to time though I dont think that is what is going on. Have you tried re installing the game?

You should not be playing Far Cry 3 with MSAAx8 with only one HD 7970GHz. This setting is meant for multi-GPU configurations, even at 1920x1080.

Stick to MSAAx4 at the most, although I would recommend less so that you stay around the 60FPS average.

Guys i need you help. Something very strange/bad happend.

I installed the lastest driver from amd today. Then i start playing Team fortress 2 and suddenly my game frezeeing and my sound frezeeing and after few seconds i get black screen. I restart my pc. I go to ccc and it shows me 85C temperature and the fans are on 100%. This is fail my graphic card has not 85C. And yes all tre fans working. I deleted this beta shit. Installed lastest normal from Gigabyte´s site. What to do. I dont think all this with fc3 and temperature is a hardware issue.

Yes but its a bug! Catalyst shows 137% activity on idle when im on windows and the fans are on 100% And if i wait long for the temperature reach 100c my pc crash. And all 3 fans working impossible there is 100C
