still no promises it will handle GTA4 or minecraft on much of the way of settings. this one would have a better chance at it.

Solution

This is exactly what i would have recommended. The 2nd build would play games better, no doubt on that.
Get the 2nd build, it is way better than the APU based one and also it is better on the power consumption.

I am going to select it as the best answer. Exactly what i would have recommended.

I completely disagree amd apu will perform much better especially with faster ram. I have a8 5600k cheap build I did back in July. I also have an i5 ivy bridge from intel which is much better then then the shit one you guys said to get and with out graphics cards the amd outperforms it. With a 7770 in both they are close the i5 of course a little better. With a 660ti they also are pretty close. When I put the 660ti in the intel build and crossfired the amd build with 6670 it actualy matched the i5 in some games and came close in others

Dual graphics yeild just like 2-3 more frames when compared with single graphics as it can be clearly seen at TomsHardware's review of Dual Graphics with the APU's.

Also sorry to say that, but you don't understand what we were saying and with this negative attitude, you won't be able to understand.

The i5 has a better CPU. The AMD A8 has a better Integrated graphics. Since the i5's integrated graphics were never meant to be for gaming, wheras A8's graphics were meant to be for gaming only. Hence the inbuild graphics of the A8 is of course better than the one on the i5. (That has changed with the Haswell i5 though. Haswell i5's graphics is on par with AMD APUs now.)

But when it comes to pairing with a GPU, then I can guarentee that AMD A8 paired with any GPU would perform less than paired with the i5.

When it comes to higher end cards like the 660 Ti, then the AMD A8 would be a bottleneck and the i5 would still be kicking @$$ then too. Hence i5 is and will remain a lot lot better gaming CPU than the AMD.
