No CMOS Battery?

I have a Dell Vostro 1510 and it was having some overheating problems so I took it completely apart so that the motherboard was separate from the outer case and on glancing at the motherboard there is no CMOS battery.

Anyone know why this is so?

  1. it has one,it may just look different.the battery appears to have a pigtail harness attached with a plug on the end.
  2. can you upload a pic of the battery slot? If your system time keeps resetting after you kill the power to the psu and if you get the POST message "Press F1 to continue loading defaults" then only you can assume that a battery is missing.

Hi, go to page 8 and you have the instructions to remove or replace the coin-cell battery : ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_vostro_notebook/vostro-1510_service%20manual_en-us.pdf
