Something strange about download speed

I observed a strange thing : I'm in France and when I use my "normal" IP adress, some sites cannot be accessed or, for some others, transfer speed is very slooooow and always fail.
But, if I use a "fake" IP adress (with "Mask my IP"), things work fine : I can access all sites and transfer rate is very good !!!
Any idea on some limitations on the server side ?

Your ISP is filtering your content! Mask my IP is a encrypted VPN system so they cannot tell what is being transferred and from where? Its probably that simple. I do not live in France so you shoudl probably check your agreement with your ISP and make sure they do not have a problem with you using a VPN service. Never heard of one that did, but then I live in teh US, so what do I know.
