I would like to buy a new graphic card to replace my old 9800GT. I was thinking about Gigabyte nVidia GeForce GTX660, 2GB, GDDR5, DVI, HDMI, PCI-E, or ASUS nVidia GeForce GTX660, 2048MB, GDDR5, 192bit, DVI, HDMI, PCI-E, the thing is here there is about 30 euros in price diffrence(Asus>Gigabyte) and the Gigabyte would fit perfectly in my budget. The problem is i have an ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard with a PCIe 2.0, so the question is,will it work for a 3.0 card to run on a 2.0 slot and is there any point of buying the asus one just because my motherboard is asus aswell, or the gigabyte should work just fine,

Solution
yes, it will run perfectly fine, also don't worry about the PCIe Versions, it is compatible, in fact no current cards can take full advantage of 3 anyways, also if the Gigabyte fits in ur budget go for it

The PCIe is backwards compatible, meaning you can use a PCIe 3 card in a PCIe 2 slot. You are not obliged to buy an Asus card to put it in an Asus mobo, the Gigabyte will work as well.

On a side note: Anyway, at least for me the price premium of the Asus is well spend. I am using Asus cards the past years because of their good custom cooling and durability. Yes, I am an Asus fan, specially on their passively cooled cards. Anyway the choice is yours. Good luck.
