i have planned to buy a anti static strap to ensure the safety of my first ever pc build after some searching i found a cordless anti static strap it says it has a magnet or something it would be really convenient but im just asking the community if its safe and not just some rip off

I would say most static strips are a ripoff... Just touch the chassis of the case before going inside the machine. I'd be shocked to learn that many people actually use a static strip outside of factory workers that actually handle the parts during construction. Even then...

You don't even really need that. Just touch the case once in a while. And don't build on a carpeted floor if you can help it.
