Hey guys ive just finished my first build. and put everything together
specs are:

Asus P8Z77-v LX Motherboard
Intel 3570K
x2 8GB DDR3 Crucial Ram
GTX 660 Ti AMP GFX card
Corsair TX850M PCU
Corsair 600T case
180GB Sumsung SSD
Pinoneer BR RW

when i power up it all seams to run fine, fans runs there is a red led flashes once for the ram, and thats it. it wont post but seams to power my keybord and mouse??

after turing it on and having no luck i went back to square one and had a rebuild to make sure wires are where they should be and all is conected up.

im at a bit of a loss as to what to do now though and would love it if some one could shed some light on the problem and more importantly the salution!!
thanks guys

Try one stick of ram at a time. You might have a faulty stick. Also try resseting the cmos. Dont forget to turn off the power at the wall first.

Asus sets the ipgpu as main video output.try your monitor on the mb video ports. If there video go in and switch it to peg as first video device.
If there no fault led on and no output. Try one dimm and look at your mb bios rev. If it to low the mb won't have video output. If your mb has the USB flashback port you can update your bios using that port.

Pull Your gpu and see if the bios was to old to post with the gpu in. Try using onboard video. Also check that the eight pin pci power plug on the edge of the mb is plugged in.

Quick rundown.....check tat you used all the mb standoffs. Check that the io shield not shorting out the bottom or back of the mb ports. Check that the reset button on case not smashed in and the cables are on right on the mb header and USB ports. Check to see if case fan or Sata power ports are shorting out. Check that both the 24 and eight pin power plug is connected.
On the eight pin power make sure you dd not uses the power supply's six plus two cable.

Look at the mb bios rev sticker on the mb. If it an old bios and your mb has the asus USB flashback port download and update your bios.

cool ive reinstalled the mobo, and its on all the standoffs and i think its not shorting out and its pretty snug in position the edge of the mobo comes close to the back of the case like under a mil close. im not too sure how to check my bios version without any monitor any sugestions?

Are you SURE 8 gig sticks are compatible? It sounds a lot on a four slot board. Yes, i am old.

If the cpu fan is spinning up and everything seems to be working, then the ram is probably ok for the board. If the cpu fan doesnt spin up, maybe not.
There are different layouts of chips on the memory sticks, and you might possibly have a set of ram that wont work with 8gig sticks on that board. Its not common but its possible.
Borrow a smaller stick off a friend and you will be able to cross that problem off the list.

when i start up it takes a moment for the cpu fan to start but then it runs just like all the case fans. thanks though. im a bit worryed it might be a fault in the mobo, there is no beeps or any thing when i turn it on.

If you cannot get a picture out of either the graphics card, or the onboard, I would try smaller ram and if it doesnt work send it back. Thats all i got.
