Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Won't Launch

I'm having trouble getting Euro Truck Simulator 2 to work on my Windows 8 laptop. When i click the program in the start menu this is all i get. The program appears in the taskbar but pressing the icon does nothing. Task manager shows that the program is running, so i guess the problem is that the game simply won't display. I have tried running as administrator but this doesn't help.

It's funny because the game was working perfectly about two or three weeks ago. The issue seemed to start when i updated my Nvidia drivers, but this may just be a coincidence.

Spec:

Acer V3-571G/Intel i7-3610QM/8GB RAM/Nvidia GeForce GT 640M [2GB VRAM]

Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers! :)

When you launch it can you hear any sound from the menu screen? If so, try adjusting your screen resolution down. If that doesn't work try re-installing the game (If you haven't already)

Hello,

I started the game with the volume on and no sound could be heard at all. Reinstalling the game didn't work either, i did this as soon as the problem started some time ago.

When i go into the task manager it says 'Euro Truck Simulator - Steam'. I don't understand why it says this because it is not the Steam version?

Why don't you try reinstalling the game again!!
