I have recentley purchased a new motherboard and heatsink. Before the purchase i would have a problem where the computer would freeze and have this glitchy look to it. It continued to happen after i installed the new components. I even replaced the hard drive with another one from my dell and it did the same thing. Is this an issue with my ram or my cpu, because sometime the computer would have the dram error flash but Im not sure if that is what the problem is. Please give me your feedback, is this a common problem?

Ok a quick roundup, it froze with a "glitchy" look, thus far you replaced the:

Mobo & Heatsink
HDD

Does it freeze randomly, or after a while?

Has it frozen in a game? If so was the entire game image distorted when it froze?

How does it freeze with your new mobo, during installation? BIOS? does it still have a "Glitchy" look

Tho i do wonder why you installed only 1 ram stick, you'd have been better off with 2 x2GB, simply because of Dual Channel.

I need the Model of your Mobo tho, to determine if Ram may be a problem.

I doubt it would be the CPU based on the current info, to be honest, if it's a "Glitchy" look, graphics card could be a problem.

Give me the above info tho and i'll help you solve it.

With my old motherboard i would be playing a game and the game would freeze and make this loud static noise that would always hurt my ears. with my new mobo it will freeze during the windows 7 installation, and when i used the different hard drive with windows xp on it already it froze at the login screen. The only thing is is that ill do the test with and without the gpu so i know its not my graphics card, and it also works great in another computer. My mobo is and ASUS P8B75-V LGA 1155 Intel B75 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Weird!!!

Whats the Ram, Make a model! :)

I take it your BIOS temps are OK? and it doesn't crash/freeze in the BIOS does it? if left in BIOS for a little while? however doubtful that maybe , just thought i'd ask. :)
