Hi,

I know my PC probably isn't the best it should be for Gaming but I definately didn't think it was bad enough to warrant 15 FPS on the new SimCity game with all graphics on Low. Here is a list of parts;

OS - Windows 7 64 Bit
Motherboard - ASUS P5G41T-M LX
Power Supply - Novatek Brand 800W Power Supply
CPU - Intel Penitum D 805 2.66GHz - Clocked at 3.1GHz
RAM - 8GB DDR3 1333 (2x 4GB)
Graphics - XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB
- Clocked Core Speed - 800
- Clocked Memory Speed - 1250

If anyone knows of any reason why I'm only getting these FPS any help would be greatly appreciated! I know my computer is well in need of an upgrade however I don't have the money for this at this moment in time so any solutions/ideas that might help me get better FPS with my current set up would be even better!

Cheers

Well between the Penitum D CPU and low end GPU that is about all you are going to get in SimCity. Even though that CPU is Dual Core it is still quite old now and fitted with a low-mid range GPU that is also quite old and out of date there is just not much that can be done with the hardware you have. You can try lowering the resolution and see if that will gain you a few frames per second faster but I do not know if that will even help alot.

I know that is not what you wanted to here but that is what you have to work with.

Dude , your pc isn't that bad !! you only have to change the CPU ( Get an Core 2 Quad Q6600 it's the best for the price and the performance )

if you upgraded that CPU to a core 2 quad , Core 2 duo .. you will get a Huge boost in FPS trust me. you just have to change the CPU

and your GPU is good enough to run decent games at medium settings with good FPS .

@bryonhowley Thank you for your reply. It isn't what I want to hear but I know my hardware is a bit dated! Thank you for your suggestion I'll try it out but tbf I can probably only see myself getting 2-3 frames difference which wont be much when I'm only getting 15 atm haha

@Marcopolo123 I'm using ATI Tray Tools because for some reason Catalyst won't work properly (won't open at all so I cant change/do anything to my card) but this is up to date.

@Kareem GT My plan is to upgrade and "future proof" the CPU and GPU when I have the money, unfortunately my CPU is a different socket to i3/5/7 so I'm going to need to upgrade my MOBO as well. I'd rather just put any money towards buying better stuff than a Core 2 Duo, I would just see it as wasting money if I bought one of those for now if I was going to scrap it later. But thanks for the comment!
