6970 2GB is down to $160, is this a better buy than similarly priced current generation cards?

So Newegg has the Sapphire Radeon 6970 2Gb for $159, down from $229. Tom's Hierarchy ranks this card as equivalent to a 7850 and 650 Ti Boost.

Is there any disadvantage to getting a card from the 6xxx generation? Would a 7xxx card have better longevity? I guess what surprised me is that the 6970 is normally $230 so it makes it look more attractive, but am I better off getting a current generation card for around $160? Thanks for your help.

That's a nice deal! But for the same speed, $140:

Low power consumption for lower energy bills and less heat getting blown out your computer.

I had never really heard much about the Galaxy brand, but I'm looking through their ratings on Newegg, and all but 2 of their cards have 4 or more eggs. Seems like a pretty solid buy, thanks for the help.
