okay so I have a samsung 840pro 128gb boot drive, which only windows, system drivers, and a few prime apps are located. Well, just a few hours ago, I come back to my pc, which had been running for 3 or 4 hours, and the screen was blinking saying, no space on c drive!!!. Now before that I had 61.2 free gb. So i did a system restore to 3 days ago (last windows critical update) and then rebooted and now i have 54.something gb. Another reboot 52.something. I do not know what is happening. I have done 3 troubleshooting techniques. sfc /scannow, defraggler, and chkdsk. But nothing is helped. Defraggler say's it's 43% fragmented if that means anything.

Solution
Get CCleaner... Run thru it.

Did you move your Profile to the spinning disk? That is where all your temp files build up.

Set IE to dump temp files on exit...

flush Chrome/Mozilla's cache files...

I am running a Vertex 128GB SSD as boot and have a running 22GB of free space. I am not worried about it until it gets down to 15GB free.
1. You do NOT want to defrag your ssd. It wears it out and does no good at all.
2. Look at your drive and account for the files/folders that are occupying space.
See where the big numbers are, and what is growing. There are some free apps out there to do the summarizing if you want. On each major folder/file, right click and select properties. You will see how many gb it takes.

Solution
I had that happen on mine and it was a log file for the antivirus. When I googled it the solution was to make it read only. Not the best solution since it won't log anymore but it worked.

Do a search and find out what files are taking space. It is most likely in the app data of your user account.

yes i know not to defrag the drive, i was using the tool to analyze the drive. I also know which folders and programs i have in my c drive. Like I said earlier, I did not add any new programs during the time this happened. It is the strangest thing I have ever seen.

I'm Hoping someone has had a similar issue and can shed some light on the subject.

Your issues are anything that needs real time access to the disk.. such as virtual memory, system restore and things of the nature.

had the same issue here turned it all off and it got rid of the issue,. youll just have to go and delete all the backup files those programs had made.

I got it some what stable feeling now at 54.2 GB free
But, like i said it has been between 61-64 free GB for the last 3 months
And today, all of a sudden, it does this crap. Now it's only 54GB free
when I didn't install anything.........I just can't figure it out.
