Hi. I want to ask if I can use my old laptop's hard drive with windows 7 installed as a temporary storage for my desktop? (because I still haven't bought any hdd/ssd for my build)

Another question, can I use the Windows 7 installed on the laptop's hdd?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
1. It's just a drive. Small and slow, but just another drive.

2. Probably not.
Is the Win7 install an OEM version? Won't work. Different motherboard.
If not OEM....you can try, but it probably won't boot. Too much difference in chipset and drivers.

Get a real drive for the new build and install Windows on that.
