I noticed this issue since march already. It happens on every game i will have a stutter every 5 seconds or so. Its worst with metro, metro last light, fallout 3, and crysis 1. i put the settings to the lowest i can go with all these games with a very low resolution 1024x768 and it still does it. so it cant eb the video card. i also replaced it with the same model, a gtx 660ti 3gb SC from EVGA, installed the latest 314.22 driver at the time and it stuttered still, even stuttered with 310.90 and the newest 320.49 driver now. Even COD 2 stutters every 30 seconds its very annoying.

I put an fps cap for all my games and even though most games like farcry 2 i get over 100fps, i have a 30fps cap and even tested a 20fps cap, and for a second it dropped under it and paused the screen and it stutters. i have tried disabling audio, unplugging mouse and keyboard for benchmarks, updating bios. nothing has worked.

I then ran latency monitor and it said in red my pc had trouble with real time tasks, and my pagefault time was all the way filled and red, dont know what that means i assume its HDD related.

So i dont have much money to spend here, what should i replace first? my motherboard? it was a cheap asrock one thats why i suspected it. heres my full parts list:

Gtx 660ti 3gb EVGA
asrock b75m-dgs
i5 3570k (tried 3.4ghz, speedstep off)
8gb corsair 1600mhz ram
7200rpm western digital caviar black 1tb
seasonic x650

edit:

i have tried intel hd4000 when i shipped my card back and it ran a 30fps cap for farcry 2, no stutter wat so ever for the time i played for 2 weeks. even on benchm, arks it only dropped under 30fps when it couldn't handle it, when it would go under 30fps with out the limiter. so is my card bad? or my PCI slot bad? i replaced the card so the nw one obviously was reseated into the slot. i think its got to be motherboard related. this card should handle all modern games on low settings and definitly not stutter. i talked to friends who play the games i do and they say they dont have it at all and it must be my pc. someone please help im loosing interest with pc gaming becuase of tis soggy sweaty stutter that happens every 5 secnds on all my games

Sorry to read that uninstalling KB2670838 didn't help fix the video stuttering problem. Have you tried to restore the Nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings to the default? Since uninstalling KB2670838 didn't help, I suggest reinstalling it.

for updated drivers, i have always preferred a fresh install of windows, then doing it. But i have it down too a T :D.

There was a program called driver cleaner, but this seems a little more up-to-date http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

Uninstall the graphics drivers, then use that program (in safe mode if you can), then reinstall the latest up-to-date graphics drivers.

Personally i'd do this:

Uninstall
Boot into safe mode > run driver sweeper (or not in safe mode, upto you, if it will/wont)
reboot>
Run this http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Then> Defrag > then goto command prompt ( run it as administrator) type CHKDSK /F.
Reboot.
Install latest Nvidia Drivers, try it and see :D

Let us know!

driver sweeper from guru is when i noticed the stutter, i did it a while ago when i had flickering objects in bad company 2. like when i loaded a map it would have ground flashing and stuff, weird stuff, weird stuff. anyways it isnt video card related becuase t does it without a video card, and i get audio stutter but i think i need a sound card

Only trouble with these kinda of problems, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

We'll need a list of programs running while you play your game, and a list of processes (screenshot preferred)

Easiest option would be to whack all the files you need onto another HDD, download latest drivers for Mobo and Graphics card.
>
Format Windows and reinstall
>
Install latest drivers that you downloaded
>
Install game and test.

Much easier to find out where the problem lies then, if it still exists :)
