The era of dual cores is over my friend. The i3 is a dual core where as the FX6300 is a 6 core processor which is capable of being overclocked and being close to the performance level of the i5 in single threaded tests after being OC'd that is.
AMD's FX processors perform better in game engines that can use all the cores . Thats probably every new game , and definitely titles like BF3 , Crysis 3 , etc

An FX 6300 can easily OC , and will absolutelt destroy the intel dual core in non gaming tasks too

Pared with a 970 series board its about the same cost as the intel , or even a little cheaper
