Pretty much the title, I want to replace the motherboard on the inside to something with a LGA1155 socket slot. That way when I upgrade my custom comp, I can give the processor to the 580. Are there any Inspiron boards that would fit the 580 Mini Tower that have a LGA1155 socket as well?

The current processor in it is a i5-650. That is a dual core processor, 2 cores and 2 threads. The computer I use has a i5-3570K processor, if and when I decide to get a new processor I can give the processor to the older computer. If there is a MOBO that supports LGA 1155 and fits perfectly into the case, it might be a better option then buying a new CPU in the LGA 1556 socket series.

However, new motherboard will require new Windows, Dell Windows would not work on non Dell motherboard.

All Inspirons PCs have ATX motherboards, other models vary.

You may not be explaing things the right way, but if the Inspiron has a i5-650 CPU in it, it already has a 1156 socket motherboard. http://ark.intel.com/products/43546/Intel-Core-i5-650-Processor-(4M-Cache-3_20-GHz)

So you want to replace it with ANOTHER 1156 or is there some confution here as to what you are trying to do.

Nothing confusing I want to replace the motherboard.

I have custom made a computer using a i5-3570k, I am going to upgrade the processor. My i5 will not fit into the Dell because the Dell uses a LGA 1156 socket.

By replacing the dell motherboard I can install i5-3570k processor into the computer.

I wanted to know if there are any motherboards that will fit into the Dell Inspiron 580 case. I heard that dell uses a different form for there computers.

Why are you trying to save Dell case, you can get better one for under $40 - Inspiron 580 has only one exhaust fan, no intake fan and I think most important - on/off switch, which is Dell proprietary in one box.
General cases have on/off switch with individual wires, so it is easy to connect.
I would strongly suggest changing cases. If you want save PSU, Dell is using standard ATX PSU, I think 305 watt, first it is weak for anything serious, second it doesn't have, most likely, 6 pin GPU power connector, and it has limited number of other connectors.

So, the conclusion - change case.

I already changed out the psu, I already got it a new video card, and I got it 16 gb of ram. Reason I don't want to change the case it that the entire thing is costing my a lot of money. and it isn't even my computer.

So, you still need motherboard and processor, am I correct? New case will cost you about the same or less as power supply.

So, you can place non Dell MOBO in this case, just be ready for possible headaches with on/off switch.
