I recently bought a new Intel Core 2 quad q6600 to upgrade from my Intel core 2 duo e4500. When I put my new CPU into the slot and started my computer up It worked great but when I got to the windows 7 welcome screen the display was a bit weird. I got past this and decided to go on and try to play a game. As I started Arma 2 I could tell something weird was going on as some of the boxes when you first start the game where black and not the white with the black outline. As I continued into the game, The start screen terrain would flash continuously from the normal sand look to black and back. I would like to know if their is anything I could do to fix this as for the time being I switched back to the e4500 which works perfectly fine.

Specs just in case:
Motherboard: Asrock G41M-s3
OS: Windows 7 professional 32-bit
RAM: 4 gb
Graphics card: ATI raedon hd 5670 (above 2gb Video ram)

If any other information is needed or you know of a way to fix this please reply so I know I have not wasted my money.

Re: My power supply is a thermaltake TR2 430W. Also I have not tested out any of the mentioned possible solutions since my heatsink had broke.

What model is your power supply unit?
- 'Ratings on the labels don't mean a damned thing'

You went from a lower power usage CPU to a higher power usage one (under peak loads).

Does reverting the CPU resolve the issue?
If not maybe you bumped your graphics card out of the slot slightly during installation?
