I just bought a GTX 780 and i go to try and run 3D Mark on it and after about like 5 seconds of coil whine, which i never heard with my 660 Ti, it just restarts my computer. I think it might be cause its consuming too much power but i have a 1000W psu ( i will put all links below). like i can play crysis 3 perfectly for about 30mins maybe 40 mins and then it restarts. in the middle of playing i hear a slight noise that resembles coil whine but its pretty low. I dont think that the card over heats since its pretty good with cooling and it idles around 24C.
it also randomly spikes when im just on the internet and all, during the spike i hear the coil whine for about 3 secs. when im in game and durning the spikes it always has the GPU clock at 1084 MHz, the boost says on my evga precision it should only go to like 1040's MHz, and the base would be like 960's MHz. its only when intensive things happen that it actually restarts (i also noticed in the first 10 mins of crysis 3 that it was at 80% power consumption). heres a pic of what it looks like when it spikes. http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q571/MisfitJoker/gpu1084_zps84e95111.png
should i try increasing the power target or any of the sliders on the evga precision X?
can someone explain to me whats wrong? is it the psu and should i get it replaced with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207021
