Hi,

I'm buying a MSI Z87-G45 mobo and just would like to know how to set up RAID0 with 2 Samsung 540 Pros. Thanks.

"With MSI Super RAID you can combine hard drives, SSDs and mSATA into blazing fast bootable drives. Load your operating system, videos or even games faster than ever. You can now enjoy the benefits of bigger and faster storage, without all the trouble that normally surround RAID configurations."

Solution
Boot the system with the two drives installed. Go into the BIOS and change the SATA controller from AHCI mode to RAID. Save and reset. There should be a new part of your boot sequence that shows the raid controller and the drives attached. Usually the command is ctrl + m, but there should be an on screen message relaying the proper command.

From the RAID menu, select create array, add your two drives and reboot. The new array will still be unformatted, so you can install a OS, or format the drive with an existing installation of Windows.

RAID0 produces little benefit with SSDs unless you are planning to do extreme disc tasks involving large amounts of data. 4K video encoding as an example.

I've seen numerous benchmarks suggesting a 50-80% increase in read/ write speeds. Are you positive?

Yes you do gain that maximum read/write speed. However, the problem is having enough data needing to be moved to actually reach that limit. Everyday use will not accomplish that.

About the only benefit to RAID0 is creating a larger volume, but then, if possible, you can just buy a larger drive.
