Hello people

I woke up this morning to my monitor being completley dead and found this monitor and cant really see anything better for the price.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VE247H-Widescreen-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373176133&sr=8-1&keywords=ASUS+VE247H

My only enquiry is about the dynamic contrast ratio.. this whole 10mil:1 Asus smart contrast ratio bullshit just doesnt work in my brain and have seen that many monitors have 1000:1 as a native contrast ratio and am led to believe this is the number that really matters.

So my question is is there anyway of finding out or calculating the true contrast ratio of this monitor before i bite the bullet and purchase it?

thanks alot

Sure, check reviews on tftcentral.co.uk. Those stupid numbers are dynamic contrast ratio and you're right to disregard them. But manufacturer-quoted static contrast ratio (the 1000:1) is still usually unrealistic. You'll see actual measured values on TFT Central and they'll typically range from 600:1 to 900:1 (very occasionally 1000:1 or a little over) except VA panels which can hit over 3000:1.

Ok well i appreciate the advice its just impatience got he better of me the idea of having no monitor for any more than the weekend got to me so i ordered it before i got any responses to this thread.

the main thing i really wanted was the 2ms response time because i play alot of racing games.
