Hello there!
I have Windows 8 Professional N on my Acer Aspire 5750G laptop.(Configuration : Intel i5-2410M, 4GB DDR3 RAM, GeForce GT540M 1GB, 640GB HDD, etc)

When I browse the internet, play games, or just leave it on, it somehow freezes, with a sound loop (it's more like a buzz) of the last sound played(if there was any).
It's very annoying since I cannot rely on my laptop anymore. If it freezes while I do something important.....
After each and every freeze, I had to hold down the power button and restart my laptop.
After logging in, I checked the Event Viewer but it had nothing...No errors or warnings or even simple messages before the shutdown.(it had some messages an hour before the restart)
The only two errors are these two :
1:10:19 PM - "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
1:10:31 PM - "The previous system shutdown at 1:09:25 PM on ‎7/‎7/‎2013 was unexpected."
Both of these errors are clearly after the restart.

I really don't want to reinstall win8 yet. I hope there's a fix for this thing.
PS : I installed all the updates, my drivers are up-to-date, and i want to clarify, that Windows 7 Pro ran perfectly with the same hardware.

have you got punkbuster installed? I had problems with my PC locking up and looping a sound-bite and it was to do with punkbuster trying to read a protected file. if you have it installed try using the laptop with the punkbuster service disabled and see if it freezes again.

No, i don't have punkbuster installed.
I had freezes just after installing win8 and a couple of drivers and basic programs like chrome, messenger, steam...
Thanks for replying, tho :)

I have the exact same problem, same laptop but with i3-2310m... even tried lots of different drivers, fresh installs of OS, windows updates on etc. and still no solution... been trying to fix it for a year now, that's why I gave up and went back to win7 :(

EDIT: many motherboards have a realtek sound chip that have a driver that has bugs in it.
updated (fixed) drivers can be found here: (version 8.020 11/26/2013 for windows 8.x)
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
(you will want to update this driver if you have the chip on the motherboard even if you don't use this audio output)

windows key +x then type M (to bring up control panel device manager)
find sound,video and game controllers

you may have a conflict that may be resolved by disabling sound sources that you are not using.
for example, my wife's machine has 5 different sound sources but she only uses the one on the motherboard. if I fail to disable the HDMI sound for her graphics card her machine will freeze if she plays a game for a hour or so.
Note: you want to disable the extra sound sources not remove them. Also, you will sometimes need to set the default sound to the source you want to use.
