Hi

I am a passionate 3d animator and was trying to get a really good machine that I can also play the latest games on. As far as 3d work is concerned, I use software such as 3ds Max, After Effects CS6. I am from South Africa and here most parts can be sourced, but the delivery can be a problem. As far as budget is concerned I am budgeting for just over $1600(R15000). Although it must be taken into note that this is a box only-i.e. I have a screen, keyboard, mouse etc.

This is my build so far:
*Please note all prices are in rands

i7 4770k - 4105
G1 sniper B5 - 1405
8Gb HyperX - 580
1Tb WD - 780
MSI GTX 770 - 5300
CM nVidia 690 ii advanced - 1300
Gigabyte VS650 W - 680
Samsung Optical Drive: 200
D-Link range Booster dual band- 350

Please can I have any thoughts or advise on the build, this is my first time, so ignorance can be expected. =D

The Core i7-4770K is an unlocked model, meant for overclocking. The G1 Sniper B5 uses the B85 chipset that does not allow overclocking.

So you should either swap to a Z87-based motherboard to allow overclocking (and add a good CPU cooler), or you could save some money with a Core i7-4770 (no K).

Not sure how your currency converts, but for just over $1500 USD this would be my suggestion.
Hopefully the $100 left over accounts for any markup in your country to keep it under $1600:

It does allow overclocking, but I would probably recommend spending a little more to get more robust VRMs. Asrock Z87 Extreme3 or Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H for example. Or even better the Extreme4 / Z87X-UD3H.

Thank you for the suggestion, but the prices are completely exaggerated. Ie: price conversion is about R10:$1. So I would have loved to add water cooling an SSD, it's almost a 25 % increase from American prices, absolutely ridiculous!

I was thinking of getting the Gigabyte Z87N-WiFI, is it a good choice and how is the wifi signal?

Wait but didn't you say $1600 = R15000? If R10:$1 then $1500 x 10 = 15000?

EDIT: If it's 25% of USD then $1600 - $400 = $1200

That's a Mini-ITX board. Not for this type of build. Figure out what the USD budget is for sure and I'll rework the build for you, because I seriously overcompensated a lot of the build and went for high quality rather than value.

Sorry, my mistake. The conversion rate is officially 10 rand to 1 dollar. So if you can work on something around the $1500 dollar price range, it would be great. If you want an online site to get South African prices: www. Comx-computers.co.za

When I meant 25%, I meant 25% extra. 125%. Ie: Msi twin Frozr GTX 770 - $400? Here it's about $530.

Yeah so 125% of $1300 is $1625. Or did you want it to be R15000? ($1200 USD)

It's a bit over budget, but best I could really do. Next thing to do would be to drop overclocking as an option, that will save you a fair bit.
