I'm switching from Xbox to PC gaming... And have made a build based on what I need it for... maxed out 1920x1080 Gaming and Video Editing. I was wondering if this is a good enough build for now and the future, not enough, or overkill. Thanks

CPU AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-Core $160.98

CPU Cooler Cooler Master DK9-7E52A-0L-GP $12.59

Memory Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $65.53

Storage Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $74.50

Video Card HIS Radeon HD 7970 3GB $426.97

Case Cooler Master Elite 330 ATX Mid Tower $22.98

Power Supply Logisys 550W ATX12V $28.73

Optical Drive LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer $20.68

Monitor Asus VE228H 21.5" $149.48

Keyboard Logitech MK320 w/Optical Mouse $45.98

Total (Taxes in) $1008.42

Firstly, you don't even have a motherboard, so i fixed that. Second is that the GTX 760 is the most I would recommend in a $1000 build, so you can allocate more money in different places, while still getting grade A gaming. Third, don't get a cheap, crappy PSU, I got you a 850 XFX, you could go for a 600w solution though, I did this mainly because it is nice to have overclocking headroom, and the option for SLI. Fourth, you did not have Windows, I added Windows 8. Fifth, I made more overall changes, but the biggest being the CPU, the 8-core FX is $145 from AMD right now, which is basically a steal.

Also I recommend this memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007611%20600006069&IsNodeId=1&name=8GB%20%282%20x%204GB%29

Hi, thanks for the response... I think the 2tb hdd is overkill, the psu was fine (4 star average rating), the cpu cooler was fine, I already bought Windows 8, and the memory was the same except the frequency was lower and was more money? The only thing I'm left wondering now is if I should stick with the 6 core 4ghz or 8 core 3.5, and which video card (Not keen on the one you picked.) Again I need a build that'll do 1920x1080 maxed out on 3D game titles like Battlefield, crisis, Bioshock, Fallout, etc.

Get the 8 core and overclock it, and since you don't need windows, get the 7970, although a 770 is probably a better deal. Also like I said before, don't choose a crappy psu, unless you want it to blow up on you at the worst.

+1

Thats exactly what I would do, although I do prefer Intel. Its all well and good getting nice components but if you get a crappy PSU and it blows anything you will be sorry. For the money I would get the GTX 770 aswell (I did).

I think i'll get the 7970 because it gets more fps compared to the 790, since the new consoles will be 8 cores, won't the games be ported to PC therefor needing an 8 core? If that's the case do you guys think I should go for the 8320 or 8350? Also which PSU would you recommended? You guys are probably right there...

the games wont port any better because they console are 8 cores, its more to do with software than anything, mainly windows, you wont see any difference with an 8 core amd from my 4 core 3770k, and 7970 is a very capable card, worth going with, and psu wise, any seasonic/corsair/xfx are very capable above 600w ive just got a ax 750 from corsair which is made by seasonic and they produce undoubtably the best psus out atm,

So I guess I'll go for a 8350 cpu, it has a 48% better price/performance ratio anyway plus a few technologies that's only available in 8350 cpu's and more threads for multiple software to run on. But then again the 3770k is 49% faster in single-threaded software, plus faster in multi-threaded software and 2% faster in gfx apps

As for the gfx card which manufacturer of the card do you think I should go with? The HIS is the cheapest but is only 925 MHZ, the XFX is 1.05 GHZ, and the Powercolor is 1.1 GHZ. Increasing in price as the speed goes up. Is the extra speed worth it? Does it make a difference?

Also do you reccomennd buying used PC parts off eBay to save some money?

GFX card: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/XFX-Double-D-Radeon-7970-GHz-Edition-Graphics-Card-/161058629341?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item257fd7a6dd

CPU: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/AMD-FX-8350-8-CORE-BLACK-EDITION-PROCESSOR-4-0-GHZ-16-MB-/300927891867?pt=CPUs&hash=item4610b3399b

Thanks man

If its a reputable seller, ebay is fine, just make sure they do returns, you may get unlucky and get a dead piece of kit, so you may need to send it back,

in terms of GPU brands id read the reviews online, you may be able to buy a slower card but overclock it to get the speeds that the more expensive cards meet,

however just quickly searched it and the GHz edition on any make is the better card to go for, but you will get good performance from any 7970 really, just the odd few frames more with the boosted cards,

The guy who's 8350 for $210 (shipping included) on eBay has 100% positive in 267 feedbacks, but no returns accepted... It doesn't include the heatsink or fan but I'm buying an aftermarket cooler for overclocking anyway, and I'll save myself $40 in the end, but what if it doesn't work? Says full purchase price is covered with PayPal (What I'm using)

As for the card the extra 125 MHz for a few extra frames is $30, so I think I'll stick with the cheapest 7970 (HIS)

I've just bought my case on my part list cuz it's on sale

What do you think?

Everything ive bought off ebay has been fine, you just hear the odd story

definitely get a aftermarket cooler, the stock ones arent very good from both intel and amd,

and otherwise all the parts look good, youlll have to let me know how it goes, :)
